We were camping in Manistee national park, on our way home we saw this place and stopped. Amazing service, amazing food (*note* no credit cards cash only!). The french toast and regular toast was twice the size I was expecting! The sausage was equally amazing. And you just can't say enough about the donuts, look at the 5th picture thats my son , he barely managed half of that monster and he is an eater! You will not be disappointed stopping here for breakfast!!

This restaurant is a must stop on the way down 131. Everyone else has commented about the pastries, which I agree with so I will skip over that. Lunch time I am stuck getting the same thing because it is so good. Char grilled (real char grilled) patty melt on home made bread and a cup of home made soup. Very good. Breakfast is also very good whether you get an omlette, or breakfast buffet. You can buy the home made bread by the loaf. We get the wheat, it's unsliced, about a foot long, and about $2.50! Wish they we're open later though. Only until 4pm on Sat. Friday until 8pm though.

I told the lady at the post office in town 12 miles away that I was looking for breakfast and she sent me to the chuck wagon. When I walked in it was filled with locals but I was still wondering, " can you cook eggs over easy". I never found out because I opted for the buffet. It wasn't a massive buffet, but it had all the breakfast items you want. Real eggs, bacon that was not overcooked, sausage patties, and homemade biscuits for the fabulous biscuit gravy. I mean, that biscuit gravy was no water down hotel crap that you usually see at other restaurants. It had massive chunks of sausage in it. It was excellent!. The hash browns we're prefab but cooked just right. And when I was checking out, I notice they have in their display case donuts as big as your head!. And they looked great. Not too far off of Highway 131 and east of Highway 10 on the south side of the street, if ever in the area I strongly suggest stopping in. As a former chef train classical French, I don't give many good reviews. But chuckwagon definitely earned this one.

Corned beef kinda tough on the Ruben, but overall a great place to stop and eat. Pastries and breads outta this world. Everybody very friendly and waiter was attentive. Will be back many times I'm sure! recommended.

We did not eat a meal here. We had donuts an coffee. Donuts are huge. The coffee was good and the waitress was quick with the refills. We did not order food so the rating doesn't apply to the menu. The waitress was friendly.

We saw this place from the highway and it looked all mom and poppy. It's really good and their pastries are huge! They look super delicious. I ordered a club and it was really good - the prices were reasonable. Only downside is they only take cash - I thought this was the 21st century

Not only was the food a terrific value, the staff was gracious and accommodating. Definitely appeared to be the breakfast place of choice. Warning! The donuts and sweets are as big as your head. When one apple fritter feeds a small country for than less than $3.00 you know you're in the right place. Also, the biscuits and gravy were the BEST we've ever had. Will definitely be back.

OMG the pastries are wonderful! Humongous and delish. Too bad the place isn't down in SW Michigan as Sweetwaters would hv a competitor! Had B'fast and the portions are huge and the food was great. Very reasonable as well. I suggest sharing the first time, really!

What can I say, my fiance and I are suckers for small-town diners. Apparently we like to be eyed suspiciously by locals. The only difference between us is that she is from a small town and can fit in. I am not, and usually don't. So when we walked into this little place that we stumbled onto randomly on the way to Mackinac Island, the people were neither friendly nor rude. The food, however, was very good. She ordered a burger. I got the chili and the salad bar. The burger was a diner burger. It smelled like a backyard barbecue. The chili was meaty and thick and much better than I thought it would be. I added some cheese from the salad bar and it was perfect. The salad bar could have had a few more veggies, but it did have spiced apples, which made me happy.

we had to stop and see donuts as big as your head it is true. We had breakfast and it wasn't fancy but good food and plenty of food for the price. Our waitress was nice and the entire staff seemed to be very pleasant. We agreed that this would be a place we would stop at again.

This is a fantastic little diner about 1 mile east off of US 131. Great portions everything is homemade staff is awesome stop by if you're Read City. This place truly is a step back into Grandma's Kitchen.

This is great comfort food. The portions are food and the signiture is their freakishly large baked goods. Delicious, I might add! The food is a little heavy, so don't go here if you're on a diet. If you're not, I recommend stopping in.

Donuts the size of your head!!! I repeat they are the size of your head! Apple fritters the size of a women's basketball!! This is not a drill, this is the real deal the donuts are crazy big and what makes them better is that they are only $2.00. I also had lunch and it was competent but I'm not sounding any awesome alerts like I am for their bakery department.

They really need two sets of reviews for yhis place. The donuts do deserve a 4. But that is wher it ends.

I've never actually eaten inside the restaurant but their donuts were a huge hit at my old job. They were literally the size of a pizza and only a few dollars! They have a bunch of different flavors and you can't beat the price. If you need to bring something to work party, stop in for donuts!

So my girlfriend heard from a coworker that this little restaurant in Reed City, a few miles from the freeway had donuts the size of small cakes. We thought there was a little exaggeration going on. We were wrong. These things are huge. I mean huge. They are $2.25 and it makes you wonder how they can make a profit. If you are traveling on 131 and are going to pass Reed City, take the 20 minutes to stop in and get a donut. Bring cash though, they don't accept credit or debit cards.

Yes the donuts are big! The food is good home cooking. Fresh bakery bread. Open until 4p except on Friday when they are open until 8p. Sunday 8a-2p. Worth a visit.

They have a great menu with really good food. They have a breakfast buffet on Friday-Sunday and its amazing. The doughnuts are huge and do not cost that much. I prefer the omelet in the morning and the Chicken Club or Wet Burrito in the afternoon. I just love the atmosphere to this place and the food is always been great.
